When connecting two Supremadevices in an RS-485 Master-Slave configuration, you may want to enable Wiegand card reading on both devices. To achieve this, specific configuration steps are required in BioStar 2 to ensure proper card format recognition and input routing.
Setup Overview
To allow both the RS-485 Master and Slave devices to read Wiegand-type cards, follow the instructions below.
Step-by-Step Configuration
Step 1: Configure Card Type on the RS-485 Master Device
- In BioStar 2, navigate to:
- Device > [Your Device] > Authentication > Card Type
- Select and enable the Wiegand card type and corresponding format that you wish to use. This ensures that the Master device is set to recognize and process the correct card format.
Step 2: Enable Wiegnad Input on the Master Device
- Next, configure the Wiegand Input settings by going to:
- Device > [Your Device] > Advanced > Wiegand
- Set the Wiegand Input as shown in the reference image. This enables the Master device to receive Wiegnad card data properly.
Step 3: Confirm Card Type Settings on the RS-485 Slave Device
- To ensure the Slave device is also configured to read the same card type:
- Device > [Your Device] > Authentication > Card Type
- Verify that the desired Wiegand card type is enabled. This ensures the Slave device is able to read and pass the card data upstream to the Master.
Important Notes
- In an RS-485 Master-Slave configuration, the Wiegnad Input must be enabled and configured on the Master device.
- The card format settings applied to the Master will determine how the data from both devices is interpreted and displayed in BioStar 2.
