Overview
This feature is limited to Suprema Devices with LCD screens being used an OSDP readers connected via RS- 485 with 3rd party controllers either as Slave or Intelligent Slave.
Note: Generally, users use Suprema Devices to use biometrics data, for such cases Suprema Device will be connected via RS-485 as Intelligent Slave OSDP reader, which first go through authentication using biometric data and then transmits the Card ID or User ID to a third-party controller after authentication process.
Previously without this new [Display Result from Controller] feature, the LCD screen of Suprema devices did not display LED signals (feedbacks) from the 3rd party controller. Now, [Display Result from Controller] feature will allow LED signals (feedbacks) from the 3rd party controller to be displayed on the screen of Suprema Devices.
[Display Result from Controller] VS. [ Display Device Matching Result]
Currently, Suprema Devices with LCD screens being used an OSDP readers connected via RS- 485 with 3rd party controllers either as Slave or Intelligent Slave shows [Device Matching Result] as below.
Case | 1)Auth Result from the Device | 2)Device Indicates | 3)Authentication Result from the 3rd party Controller | 4)Device Indicates after 3rd party controller feedback |
1 | Fail | Fail | - | - |
2 | Success | Success (Before the controller gives feedback) | Fail | - |
3 | Success | Success (Before the controller gives feedback) | Success | - |
When using [Device Matching Result] the issue is for Case #2. From the device side the device indicates its own authentication results before getting authentication results from the 3rd party controller which can be quite confusing to the client as in it may show authentication success on the LCD Screen, but since 3rd party controller has given Authentication Fail it will not trigger the relay for the door to be opened that to the users it may seem like an issue.
The new [Display Result from Controller] can fix [Device Matching Result] issue Case #2 as shown below.
Case | 1)Auth Result from the Device | 2)Device Indicates | 3)Authentication Result from the 3rd party controller | 4)Device Indicates after 3rd party controller feedback after |
1 | Fail | Fail | - | - |
2 | Success | - (waiting for 3rd party Controller's feedback) | Fail | Fail |
3 | Success | - (waiting for 3rd party Controller's feedback) | Success | Success |
How to set up [Display Result from Controller]
Note: Display Result from Controller feature can only be applied to RS-485 OSDP readers, it DOES NOT WORK IN wiegand mode
Go to BioStar 2→ Device → Select on either Intelligent Slave or Slave Device with LCD screens being used an OSDP readers connected via RS- 485 with 3rd party controllers →Network → Serial → Authentication Result
〓[Display Result from Controller]
Result
- When the 3rd party controller sends RED osdp_LED command, either the intelligent slave or slave device will display "Access Denied" on the LCD Screen with "Access Denied" sound.
- When the 3rd party controller sends GREEN osdp_LED command, either the intelligent slave or slave device will display "Access Granted" on the LCD Screen with "Access Granted" sound.
