Biostar 1 to Biostar 2 Migration using wiegand 26 bit cards
Before the using this process, please take in consideration:
- Only works on X64 server Pc
- Can only Migrate wiegand HID 26 bit (No other format)
On current server PC:
Back up your database on current Biostar 1.XX

Upgrade to Biostar 1.93

Download Biostar 1.93 below:

Before running the Migration, please make sure the names on the User database on Biostar 1, does not have apostrophes or periods.
After upgrading and testing your Biostar 1.93. Open task manager, click on more details and find “Biostar server software(32 bit) and end task
Then click on “Services” tab and stop “Biostar server”
Now download, extract and install the latest version of Biostar 2 on current server (link below)
Test that you can open and access Biostar 2 before proceeding
Now got to "C:\Program Files\BioStar 2(x64)" and rename the folder "biostar-migration" to "biostar-migration-old".
Now download and extract the Migration patch below:
You will need 7z to extract.
You can download below:
Once downloaded and extracted, copy the “biostar-migration" folder.
And paste in "C:\Program Files\BioStar 2(x64)"
Now let’s perform the Migration to Biostar 2
Migration for user data
BioStar 1.x to BioStar 2.x Migration Tool allows you to migrate user data from BioStar 1.x into BioStar 2.
- Go to [C:\Program Files\BioStar 2(x64)\biostar-migration].
- Run run_migration.bat with the administrator privilege. The listening on 3100 message is displayed in the cmd window.
- Run BioStar DB Migration from the Chrome Web browser. Or run the Chrome Web browser and enter localhost:3100 in the address field.
- Click User.
Please make sure to select 26 bit wiegand

2 | BioStar 1 – DB | Enter the BioStar 1 database information.

3 | User | You can select the user data to migrate.
NOTE The default path that saved images for BioStar 1 is [C:\Program Files (x86)\BioStar\server\Image File].
Click Migrate User to transfer user data. |
- When the migration is complete, a pop-up window appears showing the migration result. Click OK.
Migration for log data
BioStar 1.x to BioStar 2.x Migration Tool allows you to migrate log data from BioStar 1.x into BioStar 2.
- Go to [C:\Program Files\BioStar 2(x64)\biostar-migration].
- Run run_migration.bat with the administrator privilege. The listening on 3100 message is displayed in the cmd window.
- Run BioStar DB Migration from the Chrome Web browser. Or run the Chrome Web browser and enter localhost:3100 in the address field.
- Click Log.
